AKKAS & NANJIS
In Singhalese Akka means XX and Nanji means XX. There are XX Akkas and Nanjis that work across all of the Prithipura communities. From hands on intensive care, through to teaching, they are responsible for the the health and wellbeing of residents at each of the Prithipura Communities.

MANAGEMENT TEAM
Our Management Team has a wealth of experience and many of them have been with us from the very beginning. They run the day-to-day activities across our four sites.
In addition, Prithipura Communities is governed by an Executive Committee that meets throughout the year. The Committee consists of Site Managers as well as External Members who volunteer their time. The Committee support on strategic matters such as our long-term objectives, future planning and financial management.

Farm Manager, asokapura farM
Anula was one of the first people to work at Prithipura Communities when it was established in the 1960’s. As well as overseeing the activities of Asokapura Farm, she is also responsible for maintaining standards of care across all our locations. Anula has played a special role in supporting the progress and development of our adults, having looked after them since they were young. Those living at Asokapura Farm call her ‘mum’ and she is always there for them with support, guidance and advice.

Siripala oversees the farm - both ensuring that farming activities run smoothly as well as that those who live there are well cared for and are occupied with tasks and activities that they enjoy. Siripala was one of the original Founders at Anandapura Farm and has been instrumental in developing and sustaining the work that goes on there.

Farm Manager and Principal,
Cotagala School
Harish and Siri are married and the heart and soul of Cotagala School.
Together they manage the school and farm to ensure sound education and opportunity for the young children and adults who live there, as well as supporting the financial sustainability of the organisation through the farming activities that take place.
Juliet - pushpa
head of care, prithipura infants home & assistant secretarY, executive committee
Juliet has spent all of her working life at Prithipura, initially working as a teacher at Cotagala School. She has background in special education and counselling, and is now in charge of day-to-day management at the Infants Home as well as supporting the team at Cotagala School.
Both at Prithipura and through voluntary work with other organisations, Juliet advocates for better the rights of people with disabilities living in Sri Lanka.

Pieter's Mother and Father were the founders of Prithipura Communities over 50 years ago.
Having grown up at Prithipura and having spent time in all 4 locations as a child, he now continues their important work in his role as Secretary of the Executive Committee. He has a varied role which involves overseeing and supporting the managers of all four locations and includes budget management, ensuring each location is adequately resourced and maintained and managing projects, especially those related to infrastructure.
He also plays an important role on the Executive Committee, looking at long-term strategy and planning and ensuring long-term appropriate financial management and stability.

care manager, prithipura infants home
Buddhini grew up at Prithipura Commuities as her parents run Cotagala School. This experience has given her excellent skills for her role now - supporting with staff and care management at the Infants Home. She works with the staff to ensure care standards are maintained and that they have the resources they need.
Buddhini also provides administration support as well as liaising with visitors who make donations or support us with funding.

fundraising and development coordinator
Katherine supports the management team with funding and planning.
She is the main link between organisations, funders and sponsors and the team at Prithipura. Maintaining and developing relationships with new and existing funders to ensure transparency and accountability is a large part of her role.
Katherine also helps with recruiting and managing volunteers, policy and planning and promoting the work of Prithipura in Sri Lanka and abroad.
