AKKAS & NANJIS
In Singhalese Akka means XX and Nanji means XX. There are XX Akkas and Nanjis that work across all of the Prithipura communities. From hands on intensive care, through to teaching, they are responsible for the the health and wellbeing of residents at each of the Prithipura Communities.

Over the past 50 years, volunteers from across the world have given up their time and energy to contribute to the work of Prithipura Communities.
What they have given, they have received many times over through the love of the children and respect of their co-workers.
They have come from countries as diverse as England, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Germany and Australia.
They are from different backgrounds and age - university students, professionals, retired men and women.
What they have in common is a desire to experience a totally different way of life while making a difference to those around them.
Opportunities
We're looking for a range of different skills including: Support workers; Therapists – including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and speech and language therapists; Agriculture Workers; NGO specialists including Fundraising, Organisational Development and/or Communications.
These are voluntary positions for a minimum of 6 weeks up to 1 year - as you wish. Dates can be flexible.
Who we're looking for
Previous experience is helpful but not essential. The right personality is a must, however! We are looking for hard-working, enthusiastic people willing to get stuck in. You must have the flexibility to adapt to a different culture and accept and appreciate all that is new and different!
